Barcelona and City target Xavi Simons has his future assessed by PSG

PSG is currently assessing the promising future of Xavi Simons, who has attracted interest from other European giants. During the last summer transfer window, PSG decided to bring back the young Dutchman, who is only 20 years old, after his spell at PSV Eindhoven.

After his return to Paris, Simons was loaned to RB Leipzig in Germany, where he has been shining this season. He has emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s leading players, scoring three goals and providing four assists in just six games so far.

Before his return to PSG, there were reports of interest from Manchester City and Barcelona, the latter where Simons spent part of his youth development. Both clubs continue to closely monitor Xavi Simons’ progress, recognizing his considerable potential for the future.

PSG has already made a decision about Xavi Simons

However, PSG has made it clear to both Simons and potential suitors that he is a key part of their future plans. The player has developed significantly since last season, showing himself ready to shoulder important responsibilities.

Reliable sources have confirmed that PSG is extremely pleased with Simons’ performance at RB Leipzig. From the outset, it was in the club’s plans to not only see him play in the domestic league, but also give him the opportunity to shine in the Champions League.

Although Leipzig has expressed interest in keeping Simons beyond the current loan period, the chances of that happening are considered extremely unlikely. If all goes according to plan, we can expect to see Xavi Simons back at Paris Saint-Germain next season.

It is worth mentioning that Xavi Simons already had 11 appearances for the PSG first team during the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, before his move to PSV last year, where he scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 games. Now, at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, he has already recorded 6 games, 3 goals scored and 4 assists to his name.
