Barcelona secures the signing of João Cancelo from Manchester City
Portuguese full-back João Cancelo is on Barcelona’s list to bolster their squad in this transfer window. The player currently represents Manchester City and is linked to the club until 2027, following the conclusion of his loan spell with Bayern Munich in July.
In the upcoming days, the negotiation will be finalized, as both parties have agreed to a one-year loan contract. However, the player will be loaned to Barcelona with a purchase option, amounting to around 30 million euros for Manchester City.

João Cancelo initiated his football journey at Barreirense club in Portugal. He swiftly garnered attention and moved on to Benfica. Furthermore, his on-field prowess led him to prominent teams such as Valencia, Inter Milan, and Juventus.
During his time at Juventus, he clinched Serie A titles. In 2019, he signed with Manchester City, where he stood out as a modern full-back, contributing to the team’s offensive style of play. Subsequently, he spent the last few months on loan at Bayern and has now returned to the English club.
Cancelo is renowned for his versatility, crossing ability, and defensive skills. Therefore, if the pending agreement with Barcelona is sealed, Cancelo’s acquisition will be the fourth for the team in this transfer window to strengthen their squad.
