Bayern Munich is interested in Ronald Araujo from Barcelona

Bayern Munich is keeping an eye on the market and has set its sights on Spain. The German club has shown interest in Uruguayan player Ronald Araujo from Barcelona. According to Sky Sports, the Bavarians are very keen on the 24-year-old.

Araujo is a key starter in Barcelona’s defense and one of the most experienced players in the backline. He joined the Catalan club in 2018 at the age of 19, initially playing for the B team before being promoted to the first team.

Bayern Munich has been monitoring the defender but is aware of the difficulty of the operation. Last year, Araujo renewed his contract with Barça until 2026, which includes a multi-million euro buyout clause. However, the Germans are likely to face significant challenges in signing the Uruguayan center-back.

With nearly two years left on his contract, anyone who wants to acquire him would need to pay a release clause of 70 million euros (R$ 370 million). Barcelona is keen on extending Araujo’s contract further but may also face difficulties in doing so.

Bayern has been dealing with significant absences in the defensive sector, with Upamecano missing a month due to an injury sustained in a Champions League match against Galatasaray. De Ligt also suffered a knee injury in the German Cup elimination against Saarbrucken and is still not available for coach Tuchel.

Barcelona will make the negotiation difficult

Despite Bayern’s interest, Barcelona is expected to make it difficult for Ronald Araujo to leave. The Catalan club sees the 24-year-old as a fundamental element and has no intention of letting him go, as reported by Sky Sports.

Araujo has been on Bayern’s radar for two years but is tied to Barcelona until 2026 with a release clause of one billion euros, making it unrealistic for Bayern Munich to recruit him without approval from the culés.
