Chelsea wants to make an irresistible offer for Gavi from Barcelona

Chelsea is interested in signing a gem from Barcelona and Spanish football, midfielder Gavi, an 18-year-old Spaniard. The London club’s idea is to offer an exorbitant salary to the prospect and change the young player’s career trajectory. This project may be benefited thanks to complications in the player’s contract.

The midfielder in question is Gavi, who has been standing out at Barcelona. According to Catalunya Ràdio, the English club is willing to offer a millionaire salary and an ambitious sports project to convince the 18-year-old player to switch shirts.

Gavi is considered one of Barcelona’s biggest promises from their academy and was integrated into the first team by then-Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman back in 2021 when he was just 16 years old.

Money can decide the deal

Gavi has a contract until 2024 with a buyout clause of €50 million, which can rise to €400 million if he renews with the Catalan club. These high numbers may deter interested clubs from pursuing the young talent, such as the London-based club.

However, Chelsea is not intimidated by these figures and intends to make an irresistible offer to Gavi, who has not yet decided on his future. The English club sees in him a potential substitute for N’Golo Kanté, who is 32 years old and has a contract until July 2023.

Chelsea is one of the richest and most successful clubs in Europe, having won the Champions League two seasons ago with a squad full of young promises. It is an ambitious project that can attract a rising player like Gavi.

Barcelona, on the other hand, is going through a serious financial and sporting crisis, which culminated in Lionel Messi’s departure. The club is betting on the renewal of its squad with young talents like Gavi, Pedri, Ansu Fati, and Frenkie de Jong. However, it may have difficulty holding onto its jewels in the face of European giants’ pressure.
