Departing from Dortmund, Dahoud edges closer to an agreement with Brighton
Brighton edges closer to signing midfielder Dahoud, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at Borussia Dortmund and informed that his contract will not be renewed for the upcoming season. The Syrian-born German has reportedly agreed to a verbal agreement with Brighton and the deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days.
Dahoud joined Dortmund in the 2017/2018 season, following a successful stint with Borussia Monchengladbach. In 141 appearances for the yellow and black, the midfielder has scored five goals and provided 13 assists. His impending move to Brighton would make him the third signing for the Seagulls ahead of the 2023/2024 season.
Earlier this month, Brighton confirmed the signing of Brazilian forward João Pedro, while also securing the arrival of veteran midfielder James Milner. With Dahoud set to join their ranks, Brighton is making significant moves in the transfer market to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
Dahoud yearns for the Premier League
The 26-year-old midfielder’s departure from Dortmund comes as no surprise, as he has struggled for game time in recent seasons and was not part of the club’s future plans. Dahoud’s move to the Premier League, however, presents an opportunity for him to revive his career and make an impact in a new league.
Brighton, on the other hand, is hoping that Dahoud’s creative abilities and technical skills will help improve their midfield and provide more options going forward. With the Seagulls finishing 16th in the Premier League last season, they are looking to build a stronger team that can challenge for a higher spot in the table.
The club’s manager, Graham Potter, has reportedly been impressed with Dahoud’s performances in the Bundesliga and sees him as a player who can add depth and quality to their midfield. If the deal goes through as expected, Dahoud will become a key player for the Seagulls and could prove to be a shrewd acquisition for the club.
As the transfer window heats up, it remains to be seen how Dahoud’s move to Brighton will impact the team’s performance in the upcoming season. Nevertheless, with the arrival of João Pedro, James Milner, and now Dahoud, Brighton’s fans will be optimistic about their team’s prospects in the Premier League.
