On his way out of Liverpool, Henderson approaches an unusual destination

Captain and starting midfielder for Liverpool, Jordan Henderson, may be experiencing his final moments wearing the club’s shirt. The board is looking to revamp the squad and does not guarantee the veteran’s stay.

With his contract coming to an end soon, the player has become the target of several teams around the world. Holding a lucrative offer in his hands, the player has come close to reaching an agreement and may have an unexpected destination in the upcoming season.

Arabian football could be the destination

According to information released by L’Equipe, midfielder Henderson is close to joining other global football stars and making a move outside of Saudi Arabian football. Initially refusing the possibility, a call from Steven Gerrard changed the situation.

The Englishman is in advanced negotiations with Al-Ettifaq, a team managed by Steven Gerrard. The parties have reportedly reached certain numbers, and the final details are expected to be ironed out in the next few days. The player has shown enthusiasm for the Arab club’s proposal.

Henderson’s signing is a request from Gerrard, and the club’s board will spare no effort to have the player in their squad. The salary the English international will receive in the Saudi team is not yet known.

The contract of the English international with the Reds expires in 2025. He played 35 matches in the league for Liverpool in the last season, although it is expected that his role will be reduced in the 2023/24 campaign, as the Reds have signed Mac Allister and Szoboszlai.

Days after being confirmed as the new coach of Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, Steven Gerrard explained the reasons behind choosing that country in the Arab football landscape. The coach believes that in the next season, the league will have one of the highest attendances worldwide, due to the football stars who will be playing there.
