Liverpool are watching Gonçalo Inácio and could make an offer to Sporting
Liverpool scouts Gonçalo Inácio, who is of interest to the club for the next transfer window. The scouts attended the match between Portugal and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2024 European Championship qualifiers, which ended in a 5-0 win for Portugal.
This was the 22-year-old defender’s fourth game for the national team, in which he provided an assist and helped the team keep a clean sheet. He had already scored two goals in the win over Luxembourg and provided another assist in the winning goal against Iceland.
The young Portuguese has been shining at Sporting since he broke into the first team in the 2020/21 season. Gonçado Inácio has become a pillar in the squad led by Ruben Amorim, having already played 129 games for the club.
Liverpool has been monitoring Gonçalo Inácio for over a year
Liverpool have been monitoring the defender for over a year. He is one of the defenders that the Reds have expressed interest in in recent months, as they are looking for potential successors to Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk.
Another defender in the sights is Beraldo, from São Paulo. The 20-year-old has been outstanding in recent months and helped the Tricolor Paulista to win the Copa do Brasil this year. In addition to the Brazilian, António Silva, from Benfica, and Giorgio Scalvini, from Atalanta, are also on the radar.
Inácio has a contract until 2026 with a release clause worth around 45 million euros. The value is seen as affordable by Liverpool, and Sporting may be forced to lose the player if the British pay the release clause.
The Reds also scouted Pedro Neto in the Portugal match. Currently at Wolverhampton, the winger has been one of the best players in the Premier League in the last month, making great performances for the Wolves. The player is another possible target for Liverpool for the next transfer window.
