Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, an important figure in Pep Guardiola’s team, is reportedly willing to leave the English club in this transfer window. According to the Spanish newspaper “Sport,” Silva is a target for PSG.
The publication also states that the 32-year-old German midfielder Gündogan, who was rumored to be a possible reinforcement for the Parisian side, is not in the plans of director Luis Campos due to his advanced age. The newspaper confirms that Bernardo Silva has two more years left on his contract and that the 28-year-old player had already indicated a desire for a change of scenery.
This sentiment is further fueled by the possibility of Manchester City completing a treble-winning season, having already secured the Premier League title and the FA Cup, with the Champions League final against Inter Milan scheduled for this Saturday in Istanbul. Both teams are already in Turkey.
PSG looking to overhaul squad
“Sport” also states that PSG believes Bernardo Silva would be an ideal replacement for Lionel Messi, who recently announced his move to Inter Miami in the United States.
The newspaper highlights that Bernardo Silva’s name has also been linked to Barcelona, but the complex financial situation of the Catalan club makes a move to Spanish football unlikely.
With Messi’s departure and the likely exits of Verratti and Neymar, PSG is aiming to strengthen the midfield and attack for the upcoming season. With limited chances of securing Gündogan, the French club is now targeting the Portuguese star who is currently a teammate of the German midfielder at Manchester City.
Bernardo Silva, 28, is highly regarded by director Luis Campos. Both have previously worked together at Monaco and share a good relationship. The presence of forward Kylian Mbappé, who was also Silva’s teammate at Monaco, could be another factor in advancing negotiations.
